Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Gold Accents

Gold is one of those colors that evokes feelings of luxury, glamour and style, especially when weddings are involved. And total side-note: I have a major crush on gold jewelry - I think it really warms up everyone's skin tone and is a great accent for complimenting pretty much anything! Adding in pops of this beautiful metal is sure to enhance any color palette.

The Idea Board | Unfrosted Wedding Cakes

This cake hits all the right notes for the quirky bride looking to mix things up - it's funky, fresh and the perfect spin on a traditional wedding cake. It can also be dressed up or down with fresh fruit, seasonal blooms, bright colors or a creative cake topper! a;lksdjf

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Woven Wonders

Baskets are a great decor piece to have for so many reasons - they can be used to hold virtually anything and everything while looking super cute at the same time! Whether made out of wire, wood, or even moss(!), these little beauties can be used to hold everything from silverware to parasols, but I especially like them as a vessel for flowers. alskdjf

Tahoe Unveiled's Weekly Juice!

This week on our sister site, Tahoe Unveiled, we really swung into Fall with Tartan prints, creamy and warm color tones and horse drawn carriages! I also snuck in a tiny glimpse of Spring because I'm already looking forward to fresh blooms of flowers and bright sunshine now that the days are getting shorter and the layers needed to stay comfy are increasing. I do admit I'm a sucker for warm weather but it feels like Fall and I'm totally embracing it!

Fab Find | Jenny Packham Bridal

This is for all the retro-antique glam gals that don't want to recycle a 1920’s dress but still want a gorgeous vintage gown. Jenny Packham's bridal collection brilliantly meshes detailed embroidery, gorgeous silhouettes and old school glamour into a collection of seamless and stunning gowns.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Cozy Comforts

Fall is officially here! The Aspens are turning their gorgeous colors and I just put the heavy down comforter on my bed - I'm ready! Fall is all about the cozy creature comforts: a hot cup of cocoa, a warm jacket, a snuggly blanket....and toasty fires with marshmallows of course. If you decide to have Fall nuptials, be sure to bring the cozy into your decor by having warm drinks, pashminas to wrap around those chilly shoulders, and maybe even a smore's bar -  your guests will thank you for it! a;lskdjf

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Little Wedding Cakes

Little Cakes.....how cute are they?! I think they are the perfect alternative to the super trendy cupcake, and a nice transition from the traditional wedding cake. It's a perfect blend of both worlds - you still get the cuteness & variety of the cupcake while maintaing the traditional and classic part of a wedding cake.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Pearls

These are not your Grandma's pearls! Pearls are back in a big way, and for good reason. They are simple yet gorgeous, classic yet charming. Try incorporating pearls in a different way - either through your shoes, earrings, a beautiful clutch, or woven into your decor.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Beautiful Bordeaux

Bordeaux is just one of those colors.....it's rich, sexy, and bold. It also happens to be very complimentary of most ,if not all skintones. And last but not least, it's the total "it" color for Fall, so make sure to add pops of it in your decor!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | French Fabulousness

There is a certain  je ne sais quoi  about the French culture that I absolutely adore. They know how to cook, they know how to relax, and they create things that have a certain sensuality about them without being overly risque or crude. Today's inspiration is reminiscent of Marie Antoinette - and no party of Marie's would be complete without the most over-the-top dessert bar! So whether you are going for a soft, sensual, or just plain pretty look for your wedding, try weaving in a few French influences and you're sure to create a soft & sweet atomosphere. And don't forget to have lots of forks on hand so you can "let them eat cake!"

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Fall Beauty

As Fall approaches and the Aspens start turning those gorgeous yellow and burnt amber colors, I can't help but get excited for all the beauty that Fall brings with it. I love going for runs in the woods and feeling the cool breeze on my skin and snuggling up to a warm fire with a hot cup of cocoa afterwards. I also adore Fall weddings and everything you can do with the decor - from pumpkin dessert bars, to apples galore, a Fall wedding is a beautiful delight for the eyes (and belly!)

The Idea Board | The Getaway Car

So the wedding is over and maybe you've decided to continue the dancing at another venue, or the party is winding down and it's time to head out of your wedding day in style - a getaway car is the way to go! A getaway car creates a special moment for you two to soak in your newlywed status as well as steal a few moments to yourselves if you're continuing the party elsewhere.

Fab Find | The Magic of Macy's

I just discovered Macy's awesome online wedding registry and I'm in love! It's so easy to set up and scanning and browsing all of their items from the comfort of a couch is so fun!! You can also set up an appointment with a consultation expert if you're unsure what to pick out. I'm smitten with Vera Wang's china collection and I'm pretty much obsessed with everything Cuisinart has ever created so it's the perfect combination of kitchen, bedding and decor!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Gorgeous Greys

I'm going to preface this next statement by saying that Summer is definitely my favorite time of year. But as Fall approaches and there is a slight chill in the air at night I must admit I'm starting to get really excited for the lazy days of Autumn and the first snow-fall! Grey is the perfect base color for creating a gorgeous palate of warm and neutral tones for a Fall or Winter wedding.  Try incorporating this beautiful neutral into your flowers, bridesmaid's dresses, or even desserts!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Anemones

There is just something about this beautiful flower that gets me everytime - maybe it's the delicate petals, maybe it's the perky way each bloom sits on it's stem, or maybe it's the super dark purple center that makes it all pop. Whatever it is, I think this may just be my new favorite flora!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Parasols

Summer is almost over, so sad......but here in the mountains the sun is still going strong! Parasols are the perfect beautiful accessory to protect your skin from harsh rays while looking adorable at the same time. Whether you choose to rent a beautiful vintage parasol or purchase a new one in your wedding palette, it's a gorgeous and creative way to protect yourself & add a touch of vintage beauty at the same time!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Elegant Farm Tables

Whether you're looking for a down-home rustic vibe or a slightly more elegant look, farm tables are the way to go! It's all a matter of either a chandelier here or a polished vase there and you can achieve the perfect look. Here are a few examples of a dressed up farm table with touches of rustic elegance...one of my personal faves!

In the Press | One Fine Day Events featured in Grace Ormonde

We're so excited to share our winter wedding that was featured in Grace Ormonde's Fall & Winter 2012 issue!!! Liisa & Ethan's  Lake Tahoe wedding was magical in all the ways a winter wedding could be - complete with freshly fallen snow and a gorgeous couple! With the help of the magnificent Catherine Hall capturing the day's events and PlumpJack providing the beautiful venue this wedding was absolutely stunning!

From our Grace Ormonde feature ~

When convincing her to move into the vacant room in his San Francisco home, Liisa Hunter’s best guy friend promised that she would never see their third housemate. And indeed, the ghost man—an investment banker, competitive sailor, skier, biker and surfer—was hardly ever around … until the accident.

Ethan Doyle says that shattering his leg and ankle while skiing changed him from the person who was never home to the cripple living on the couch. “My guy friends were great for the first week or so,” he says. “But then Liisa took on the role of friend and nurse. She helped me survive.” Ethan and Liisa were falling in love, but neither were ready to ruin the friendship, so Liisa moved out.

For the next year and a half, Liisa kept comparing every other man she met to Ethan, and when she went to visit him they decided to start dating. Two years later, and the night before moving together from San Francisco to New York City, Ethan took Liisa to their favorite French restaurant. He had the ring and her parents’ permission, and says, “It finally all came together. It was the right time and the right place.” And the going away party their friends had planned quickly turned into an engagement party.

For a sports-loving couple, a ski weekend at the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn was the ideal winter wedding setting. However, mountain blizzards raged for weeks leading up to their date. Then, three days before, the weather cleared and left perfect snow and almost spring-like temperatures. The day before the celebrations, Liisa, Ethan and 30 family members and friends spent a “glorious” day on the slopes together. On their wedding day, while Liisa and the girls were in hair and makeup, Ethan and his buddies hit the trails again.

The ceremony, as written by the bride and groom, centered on the Buddhist philosophies of contentment and kindness and made for a meaningful service. With overtones of a James Bond movie, the atmosphere of the reception was relaxed, but with exquisite food, high-quality wine, gowned women and men in black-tie. Candlelight and the dramatic dark red of Ingrid Bergman roses punctuated the ambiance. In a nod to the mountains, birch wood bark wrapped the altar, a large chandelier, candles and the base of the cake.

As a sweet gesture of hospitality, Ethan learned to welcome members of Liisa’s family in their native tongue. “He told them that he loved me and can’t wait to visit Finland,” says Liisa. To honor the couple, members of the wedding party read poems and brought humorous props to support their “incredible” speeches. A big hit of the night was a groomsman who had secretly arranged to sing a song with the band. “He was so good we didn't even realize it was Rob until someone pointed him out,” says Liisa.

After dining and dancing, the bride and groom slipped away to get just a little sleep before an early morning flight to Hawaii where they windsurfed, soaked up the sun and enjoyed their newlywed status.
