The Idea Board | Floral Favors

Spring is in the air! And with this gorgeous time of year comes closet cleaning, fresh clothes, and flowers blooming everywhere! Why not give your guests something to admire long after the nuptials by sending them off with a floral favor. You can collect different types of seeds from your local flower shop and bundle them up with a sweet card and planting instructions or spend the day with your bridesmaids planting little seedlings in miniature flower pots that will bloom all summer long on your guests' window sills - brilliant!

Behind the Scenes with One Fine Day | Wedding & Design Inspiration

One Fine Day is a one stop shop to any and everything you might need to make the wedding in your mind come to life. With that being said, it takes lots of inspirational research to make sure each bride + groom gets the wedding for their dream-books. To help with this, our design team spends hours researching decor ideas and perfecting each and every detail to make sure all events are customized to the tee and reflect each couple's vision. I've collected a few of our favorite inspirational themes for our upcoming weddings this summer and wanted to share how this whole process starts!

Bright Pops of Color with a twist of Woodland Chic

Whimsical and Flirty affair with hints of Romance

Soft Romance with a touch of Royal Elegance

These are just a few "kick-off" examples of details + decor to help steer each lovely couple to their dream wedding! You tell us what you like, love, hate, can't live without and we make sure it's delivered with style. There are many aspects that go into planning a beautiful and exquisite event, and I think the design process may be the most fun part!

Tahoe Unveiled's Weekly Juice!

This week our sister site brought new meaning to the word beauty with all of our gorgeous inspiration! We were convinced to throw a few beautiful and delicate anemones into our wedding bouquet, got all sorts of juicy scoop from grooms who tell their side of the wedding story, were inspired to bring back the classic beauty, pearls, into our wedding repertoire, and last but not least we were super duper excited to feature one of our favorite weddings from this summer at Martis Camp! I hope everyone has  a great weekend and enjoys this *possibly* last bit of snow we're getting!

The Idea Board | Wedding Scrolls

On your wedding day you have enough to worry about, not to mention trying to remember your vows! Why not take all the stress out of trying to remember every word and write it down on an elegant, tiny scroll. You can stash it in your bouquet and it will be ready when the time comes to express those special sentiments & vows. You'll be sure to say every meaningful word and it's a beautiful and sweet memory to keep of your wedding day!

Behind the Scenes | Design Research

Here at One Fine Day Events we are constantly trying to stay on top of the latest trends and styles, and with that requires really fun "research" projects! We scour bridal events, paper shops, design stores and clothing boutiques to research and perfect each client's dream vision for their wedding. A few weekends ago we had the pleasure of attending the Soolip Bridal Event in San Francisco. Afterwards, we took full advantage of being in the city and visited lots of shops, boutiques, and stores to make sure we have every option available at our fingertips to create the perfect design + details for each client's wedding. We gathered inspiration from fabrics, stationary and paper goods, food stores, flower shops, and even bed linens! Here are a few pics of us hard at work!

We were just a tad bit overwhelmed with Paper Source's reams of patterned paper...but we managed to select a few beauties for our upcoming photo shoots and weddings!! Looking forward to see what we put together!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Planner | Real Weddings

Eeek! I could jump in the air and scream I'm so excited! Our most recent Lake Tahoe weddings from this winter and last summer are now on our gallery!! Here are a few highlights:

Lake Tahoe wedding at Martis CampFresh, bright, and full of life! This wedding took place at Martis Camp in Truckee, CA - a stunning location amidst cascading mountains and a big beautiful red barn! We incorporated the bride's love for pop art into every detail throughout the wedding. Each festivity had a different patterned blue linen along with unexpected decorative elements. To read all about this wedding, you can check out the feature on Style Me Pretty!

Lake Tahoe lakefront WeddingRachel and John's Tahoe lakefront wedding took place at the Mourelatos Resort in Tahoe Vista, CA. Their first date took place at a french restaurant, so it only made sense to carry out this tasty cuisine at their wedding! We added a few French touches to the beach decor within the details. Fresh tahoe sand accompanied the peony arrangements and wicker platforms, while blue and white seer sucker linens and French country toile fabric decorated the table linens and escort cards! The overall feel was light, fresh, and romantic!

Lake Tahoe bbq on the lakeTo welcome all of the guests who traveled around the country to celebrate AJ & Ted's wedding, we held a Caribbean Welcome Party at the Gatekeepers Museum, a lakefront venue in Tahoe City! All guests were invited to enjoy cocktails, music, and a gourmet burger bar on the lake! Adirondack furniture accompanied fire pits, couches, and bistro lights to provide a comfortable, warm, and inviting setting! As the bride is from Bermuda and the groom is from the west coast, we incorporated details from both families. We had a Caribbean Steel Drum band performing by the lake, while guests enjoyed Mojitos & Dark & Stormy's at the tikki bar. The groom's family shares a huge love for horses, thus the groom's mom created a western ranch motif for the cocktail napkins and the branded necklaces. The groom himself had one request - fresh shucked oysters! So, Hog Island Bar served up juicy oysters nearby Moody's gourmet burger bar!

Bohemian wedding decorEvery once in a while we will get together with a few of our favorite vendors and work on a unique design for an editorial photo shoot! It's a great way for us to play around with our design ideas! This particular shoot was inspired by a shower curtain I found at Cost Plus! I couldn't resist the shades of turquoise, so we cut the bad boy into two strips and created table runners! Bellissima Floral designed the amazingly bold flowers and Matt Theilen produced the stunning photos! The backdrop of  Lake Tahoe at this lakefront venue was amazing! You can read all about the inspiration and the details in our feature on The Wedding Chicks.

Truckee Wedding This winter Fred and Betty said their I do's at the Cottonwood restaurant in Truckee! After a beautiful ceremony under a candlelit chandelier, everyone proceeded to the Cedar House Sports Hotel to celebrate! The bride wore a stunning Tara Keely princess gown that flowed effortlessly down the aisle next to the birch candle holders and her deep red cala lily bouquet! Hattie from Art in Bloom, created beautiful white and green flower arrangements that paired perfectly with Cedar House's organic design.

Tahoe Wedding Planning Advice | Budgeting

Everyone knows one of the most stressful things about a wedding (aside from everything!), is the budget. Whether you have a million dollars or twenty to work with, one of the most important things to do when planning your wedding is to develop a realistic budget! Although, one of the hardest things to do is to develop a realistic budget that can incorporate everything you love and desperately need to have throughout the wedding festivities. Here are a few of our tips: #1) Create a list of the top 3 most important aspects of the wedding. These should be the aspects that are the most important to you, your fiancé, and whoever is paying for the wedding. Consider flowers, music, ambiance, venue, decor, photography, organization of the wedding weekend, size of the guest list, and paper goods.

Budgeting for your Lake Tahoe Wedding

#2) Create a spreadsheet detailing the vendors you wish to book and the various costs. Make sure you include a "just in case" fund and a "miscellaneous" fund. I always factor in $1500 - $2000 in the "Just in case fund" for our clients. You never know what kind of last minute situation could arise (bad weather, road closure, missing vendor, etc) and you don't want the unexpected to ruin your wedding because you couldn't afford to fix it.

Budgeting for your Lake Tahoe wedding

#3) Find out how much vendors charge for flowers, catering, venues, and photography costs in Lake Tahoe. Our pricing is not the same as every other region for several reasons: 1) We are in the mountains and our resources are limited, 2) we have to ship many products in, or factor in a 2 hour delivery service, or drive 3 - 4 hours 1 direction to purchase specialty items, 3) the Tahoe elements can be harsh on equipment and vendors need to plan accordingly, and 4) Lake Tahoe is a tourist destination - the town only makes money during the 3 month peak season when people get married and travel here for vacation.

Budgeting for your Lake Tahoe Wedding4) Don't forget to factor in the little details. Ask your vendors for all of their costs so that you don't forget to factor them into your budget. Catering companies will always charge an additional fee for staff; musicians from out of town will need hotel rooms; and the florist will charge an event fee for delivering, installing, and breaking down the flowers.

Budgeting for your Lake Tahoe wedding

5) Anticipate the highest bill for alcohol. If you book a venue that charges alcohol on a consumption basis, or if you are bringing in your own alcohol you need to plan ahead. You don't want to run out of alcohol or find yourselves dumbstruck on your wedding night when you discover the bar bill is twice what you budgeted. Work with your planner to figure out an accurate consumption formula - I recommend estimating on the high end, as it is always better for the bill to come in lower rather than higher!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | First Looks

We all look forward to it: the instant a bride and groom first see each other. We feel their love and their joy in knowing they are a mere aisle length away from "happily ever after." My eyes well up almost every time - it never gets old! However, many modern couples are choosing to break from tradition and share this moment before the wedding. The reason? To enjoy a few quiet minutes alone AND to get photos out of the way so that they can enjoy the entire celebration! You know you are going to want fabulous photos of your wedding day, so instead of trying to squeeze everything into 1 hour, take your time and do it before the wedding! Here are a few fab first looks!
