The Gold Coast Estate is nestled down in the quiet and tranquil cove of Rubicon Bay. Private Estate Tour | Lakefront Cottage

Over the last few days and for the next couple weeks, we are introducing you to our collection of Private Estates for weddings and events. Today we would like to highlight another one of our lakefront properties along the shores of Lake Tahoe - The Lakefront Cottage Estate! This estate, tucked along the coast of the West Shore, has a gorgeous green lawn, and a panoramic backdrop of the lake. See below for a few images of one of our weddings from the past Summer that highlights everything this beauiful estate has to offer.    

A flat, lush lawn accomodates the perfect ceremony, with plenty of room for all of your guests to settle in and listen to your vows as you become husband and wife.

Private Estate Tour | Sandy Shores Cove

A few days ago we teased you with a little sneak peak into a few of our gorgeous private estates. Today, we are starting our tour by introducing you to one of our favorites, The Sandy Shores Cove Estate! Nestled atop a bluff and protected by the wind, Sandy Shores Cove boasts a gorgeous lawn, a lodge-style home, and access to a private sandy beach. Tall old growth pine trees surround the perimeter of the property, creating the perfect overhead canopy for an open air or clear tent reception. The long stretch of lawn creates plenty of space for spreading out the ceremony, cocktails, dinner,and dancing. Plus, no matter where you are on the property, you have a panoramic view of Lake Tahoe!

Private Estate Tour | An Introduction to our Collection of Private Estates

Wow that was one amazing wedding season!! As we reminisce all the events we had the pleasure of planning and designing this past Summer, we wanted to introduce you to our gorgeous collection of private estates. One of the greatest parts of a private estate wedding or event is the completely unique environment it creates for both the couple and the guests. No stuffy ballroom or standard cookie cutter details, instead a private estate provides a completely unexpected atmosphere. The guests have no idea what to expect before they arrive so you have an instant moment of drama as they walk through the gates and arrive at your gorgeous celebration. Plus, the backdrop of the estate combined with the mountains and the lake is breathtaking! While each property has it's own shape of a lawn, collection of trees and plants, or sometimes even a little slope, we have worked with every tree stump, every odd shape, and every obstacle to ensure an alluring and very comfortable space for both your down to earth friends as well as your more sophisticated guests that may be expecting the comforts and amenities of a ballroom environment. No matter what the weather forecast or the terrain, we always consider every ounce of comfort and need the guests may crave. In addition, we create custom scaled floor plans of the event space. This becomes quite a huge benefit to our clients as they need to know how much space each element (the tent, the tables, the dance floor, etc) will require and how much space the property provides for everything they want to have at their celebration. Squaw Valley Stables Vintage Wedding

This mountaintop wedding is pure magic! Wildflowers in bloom, a beautiful couple, a 1920's themed wedding, and a ceremony on the top of Squaw Valley..... what more could you ask for? We absolutely adore this couple and were over the moon when they decided to hire us! Every meeting, every phone call, and every scouting trip was always full of adventure and laughs. The couple wanted to take a spiritual approach to their ceremony, and did so by taking us on a trip  that involved several expeditions to find their perfect spot...one in the snow which involved skiing and boot packing up the side of a rock, another rock climbing in sandals in between snow patches and loose rocks, and then finally a lovely hike to the perfect location - a gorgeous meadow in between Shirley Canyon and Granite chief peak. It just so happened this was McKenzie's late father's favorite place to ski. Fast forward six months to mid July - wildflowers in full bloom, abundant sunshine, and the most beautiful lush backdrop for the perfect ceremony. Guests were shuttled to the top of Squaw via the cable car where they were greeted with fresh farmers market berries, cocktails, and artisan popsicles. After enjoying their epicurean delights, the fabulous Irish Band we flew in from Dublin, All Folk'd Up, escorted everyone with their Irish folk music to the ceremony.  It was the most festive and exciting hike Squaw has ever seen. It's no wonder why this wedding was featured in Style Me Pretty and The Knot.

 

The Kid Zone Mckenzie wanted her daughter to be part of the wedding and also wanted to make sure she would have a good time. So, we created a Kid Zone complete with a circle fun tent full of games and blankets, a jumpy house, and a pony ride. Luckiest kids ever...the adults definitely tried to poach this section of the wedding.

The Reception After the ceremony, guests proceeded down the cable car and were shuttled to the Squaw Valley Stables for a 1930's themed reception. From the amazing Zephyr Tent to the mismatched vintage chairs, antique tables & china, benches, and wild flowers, the dining area was completely transformed from a horse stable. We had a custom crate wall built for the back bar and paired it with a reclaimed wooden bar. As guest's were asked to dress in 1920's attire, they fit the decor perfectly!

The Dessert Station The bride's dad loved Ikedas pies! As he sadly is no longer with us, we created a special table just for him. We had a sign made that said "Jon's Pie Station" and created a gorgeous eclectic display of all sorts of Ikedas Pies.

The Music

This wedding had not one, not two, but FIVE bands! To say music was a big deal is an understatement! Guests were treated to an unbelievable weekend of entertainment. We had everything from the Hakensaw Boys performing Bluegrass music, to the Irish Folk Band we flew in from Dublin, to classical music for the ceremony, to the blues band that performed for the reception. It was awesome! To top it off, Kenny and Mckenzie choreographed the greatest swing dance to “Come and Go” by Quinn DeVeauz and theBlue Beat Review!

Private Estate Lakefront Wedding in Incline Village

Jill and Brian said their I Do's on the rooftop of a gorgeous property in Incline Village. Yup, you read that correctly - on the rooftop! Let me tell you, the view of the lake is pretty impressive no matter where you are, but from the rooftop of a private estate - it's breathtaking! After the rooftop ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails on the lawn and the indoor-outdoor living room, followed by dinner served lakeside. The couple was really inspired by a modern day Frank Sinatra dinner party. So we incorporated modern elements along with iconic old fashioned decorative elements to tie the two together. The family's vintage Packard limo was a pretty awesome tribute to the Frank Sinatra era and made for an awesome getaway car! The dinner tables consisted of a combination of farm tables and square tables covered in soft gray linens. Gorgeous arrangements decorated the tables with green and ivory flowers cascading down the tables in a very elegant and understated manner. We then introduced a unique take on chevron for all of the  paper accessories. The menus, table names, programs, and escort cards each had a different design incorporating the chevron but with a slight twist to change it up. After dancing under the stars to the awesome band, guests were shuttled back to their hotel for one more treat - a food truck serving all you can eat tacos!! YUM!

Holy moly this is one gorgeous wedding! And apparently a few other people think so too, as it was just published for the second time!!! Style Me Pretty saw this gorgeous soiree in The Knot magazine and they just couldn't pass it up. Thank You SMP!

Could you imagine dancing with your fee in the sand on the shore of Lake Tahoe? Let me tell you, it was incredible! One of my all time favorite dance settings. And the lounge furniture - to die for! In the Press: One Fine Day Events featured on Snippet and Ink!

We are SOO excited that Meagan and Kyle's gorgeous Lake Tahoe wedding is up on Snippet and Ink's blog today! They  were married by the water & dined and celebrated at Garwoods Restaurant in Tahoe Vista.  It was themed "extreme nautical" and consisted of a beautiful green and blue color design with vibrant pops of coral from Jiosia Designs! The groom, one of the owners of the shorts company Chubbies Shorts, had all of his groomsmen change into shorts for the reception, and the bride dressed in her grandmothers wedding dress for the reception as well! A Celebration for our Vendors

We LOVE all of our vendors so much and REALLY value their hard work...so we threw them a party! And it wasn't just any party...we designed an evening of merriment with live music by the very talented Brian Hess Band, delicious cocktails & appetizers by PlumpJack, and because we can't just throw a party in an empty space, we designed an intimate rustic-chic outdoor cocktail party full of pretty little details from our Signature Decor Collection!  It was such a great way to start the summer and thank everyone for working their little booties off for our clients. Take a little peak at the decor below: 

We created a rustic chic entrance to the Creekside party with our old wooden ladders, olive branches, shabby chic pots, and lots of candles...who doesn't love a candle lit entrance?

-Forever Heyday made the most beautiful invitations for the party! It was the perfect way to set the scene and let everyone know this is a "must attend" party!

We built this organic chandelier with grapevine balls, rosemary, and olive branches.

Chef Wyatt from PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn provided delicious appetizers to keep us mingling all night long.

 Brian Hess Music serenaded the crowd with an eclectic mix of music!

Bending Branch Studio Booth created an amazing reclaimed wooden backdrop with Edison bulbs hanging on either side.

The lovely ladies over at Wedding Chicks coined this wedding, "Quirky Lake Tahoe Wedding" and they couldn't be more spot on! Lauren and Kyle are hilarious and perfectly quirky! Lauren asked us to create unexpected moments of drama, jungle leaves, and a wedding full of life! Let's just say even we didn't want this wedding to end. If I could have figured out a way to abolish Tahoe's 10pm noise ordinance I would have...just to hear the Father of the Bride rock out for a few more songs with the band...or to watch the giant Sasquatch dance around and pounce out of trees...or to soak up all the incredible beauty of the infinite design details. Lake Tahoe Vendor Mixer for Tahoe Unveiled

Last night we had our first vendor mixer for our sister company, Tahoe Unveiled.  Tahoe Unveiled is an online resource providing all of your inspiration and vendor needs. We decided to get all of the our wonderful vendors together to enjoy an evening of mingling, networking, and of course enjoying some vino! It was a great success and it was so nice to get together with all of our favorite companies in the area. Thanks so much to The West Shore Cafe for hosting this great event!!Here are a few pics from the night! Check out that gorgeous view we are so lucky to have as our backyard!!

Coastal Living Weddings

When Catherine Hall first told me we made it into Coastal Living Magazine's first wedding issue I squealed with excitement...but then when she mentioned we made it on the cover I couldn't quite believe my ears. I believe my exact response was, "Whaaaat???? Are you SERIOUS? Nooo way!" Followed by  a sharp scream and of course a giddy happy dance that almost knocked me off my feet. I swear I could have jumped through the roof with the amount of adrenaline running through my body. Wow, I still can't quite believe it as I write this post! Having our work published in any print or blog medium is always such an honor and a magazine of this magnitude is beyond what I ever could have imagined. I am so incredibly proud of my team for designing this stunning celebration!

Holy Moly!!! I am SO excited to share this news! A few months ago we received an inquiry from CNBC....yup that big massive network! They requested to interview me regarding scams in the wedding industry and the article is now live on their site! Unfortunately, we are quite familiar with these scam artists and the ugly side of planning a beautiful celebration. From gift theft, to inflated irrational pricing, to blatant money thieves, we have witnessed it all! A few years ago we created a post on our blog to warn our fellow wedding planners and vendors about this lovely fella pretending to be a groom. It has since attracted the attention of over 60 planners across the country and hopefully prevented anyone from falling victim to this scam artist! The CNBC article is a great read for both brides and grooms planning a wedding as well as vendors involved in the industry. Read the entire article here - we are on page 2 - scam number 5!

The Idea Board | Ultimate Gingerbread Cookie Recipe

With the holidays racing towards us at record speed (is it really already December 20th?!), I thought I would share my go-to holiday party offering - the ultimate gingerbread cookie recipe! Nothing says the holidays like a little spice - read below for this awesome and spicy cookie from Ina Garten.

Ingredients:

• 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 2 tsps. ground cinnamon
• 1 1/2 tsps. ground nutmeg
• 1/2 teaspoon ground ginder
• 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
• 1 c. dark brown sugar
• 1/4 c. vegetable oil
• 1/3 c. molasses
• 1 extra-large egg, room temperature
• 1 1/2 cups chopped crystallized ginger
• granulated sugar, for rolling the cookies

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 sheet pans with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and salt and then combine the mixture with your hands. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the brown sugar, oil, and molasses on medium speed for 5 minutes. Turn the mixer to low speed, add the egg, and beat for 1 minute. Scrape the bowl with a rubber spatula and beat for 1 more minute. With the mixer still on low, slowly add the dry ingredients to the bowl and mix on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add the crystallized ginger and mix until combined.

Scoop the dough with 2 spoons or a small ice cream scoop. With your hands, roll each cookie into a 1 3/4-inch ball and then flatten them lightly with your fingers. Press both sides of each cookie in granulated sugar and place them on the sheet pans. Bake for exactly 13 minutes. The cookies will be crackled on the top and soft inside. Let the cookies cool on the sheets for 1 to 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Enjoy!!

Tahoe Wedding Advice | Bachelorette Party Tips

Now that your best friend, sister, college roommate is engaged - it's time to start thinking about the bachelorette party!!! There are so many ideas but we have a few tips to get you started on the right track. 1. Pick the group that she feels comfortable "letting loose" around | Get the invite list from the bride and let her decide who she would like to have join - if she hasn't spoken to someone in a while or doesn't feel comfortable in Vegas with work colleagues, they don't need to get an invite.

3.) Remember this is her night or weekend | Focus on what will make her have fun and enjoy a relaxing evening, not what everyone else wants to do.If sipping wine by a roaring fire while glamping, or partying all night in Vegas are things that will make your bride-to-be happy, then that is what your plan should entail.

2.) Create a Budget | Once you have the guest list created, ask everyone what they are comfortable spending. If it's relatively small, keep this in mind and maybe plan a one-night, local adventure. If everyone has a little more wiggle room, maybe consider turning this into a weekend relaxation trip or quick flight to somewhere fun.

4.) Elect one person for Planning  | It's so easy for everyone to brainstorm and come up with a million locations, ideas, themes, etc. Let one person coordinate all of the details and then as a group finalize everything. That way no one is doing double work and everything will be more seamless.

5.) Take care of Transportation | Do everyone a favor and rent either a limo, town car, or party bus. No one wants to be the "sober" one for this fun night out, so everyone should build in their budget an allotment for responsible transportation.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Pops of Pink

Now I must admit...I'm not a "pink" girl. I don't own anything pink and it's never the color that I would choose for any wall or home decor. But when I came across this gorgeous image I just fell in love! There is something about a pop of bright pink that draws in the eye and makes me happy. I love this unfrosted version of cake as well - it creates a rustic yet refined touch. And I love the giant bouquet on top - perfection!
